Q: I work for DAA Maintenance and I have a large mortgage and five children.  Currently there is a lot of turmoil in relation to tendering for T2 . I  can't understand why a company is told to build extra capacity and then told to put out to tender its operation, making nearly 3000 staff on the brink of forced redundancies. Wheres the logic in these strident times in putting more people on the dole and I pray Im not one of them. Minister, you have the power to review this madness  and I look forward to your reply.

A: Many thanks for your email. You may know that when the Government agreed, in May 2005 to build  the 2nd terminal at Dublin Airport it was also agreed that a procurement process would be organised relating to the operation of the terminal.   It was decided to do this to get the most efficient, effective and economic service for the traveling public. I have every confidence that the DAA will submit a very competitive tender as part of this procurement process because of their vast experience and knowledge in Ireland and around the world.
